Italy coach Cesare Prandelli stated that there is no reason why England can’t be successful in next year’s World Cup.
The Azzurri coach was asked during the Sunday press conference, ahead of the friendly against Nigeria, what he felt the Three Lions chances were of lifting the trophy that Italy have won on four occasions.
“I don’t see why not. Any of the teams that qualify for the competition are good enough to win it,” he told forzaitalianfootball.com
“Roy Hodgson is a coach that improves teams and he has done that with England.”
However, the 56-year-old was quick to remind everyone of the issues that lie within the English national team.
“I will never forget the words Fabio Capello told me. He said the problem with England is that they play so much domestic football that by the time the international tournaments are in full swing, the players are just too tired to perform at their best.”
England have won the World Cup on one occasion after defeating West Germany 4-2 in the 1966 final.
