Italian national team coach Cesare Prandelli revealed that two formations will be worked on between now and the World Cup in Brazil.
The Azzurri are set to square off against Nigeria on Monday night at Craven Cottage, and the 56-year-old revealed that he will be working on the side’s setup during the match.
“Our squad will be based on players that can cope with the two types of set up that we will work on,” the Azzurri tactician stated at Sunday evening’s press conference.
When pressed on which two tactical formations would be used he did not divulge specifics but it is expected that the 4-3-1-2 and 3-5-2 will be the preferred strategies.
Prandelli also told forzaitalianfootball.com that he was very pleased with Mario Balotelli’s attitude. The AC Milan striker has been having a difficult time of late for his club but the coach was more than happy with his performance against Germany.
“He was exemplary on Friday and I was delighted with his efforts. He can improve and we will be asking him to react better when we lose the ball in and around the opponents box.
“This is one area he must concentrate on and we will look to work on this in training.”
